On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, under the auspices of Mr. Siandou FOFANA, Minister of Tourism and Leisure and President of the National Tourism Council (NTC), the solemn opening of the NTC was held, combined with the first ordinary session of the year 2025, at the Novotel Adagio Abidjan Marcory, under the theme: “Together to promote sustainable and inclusive tourism.”
The opening ceremony was marked by a welcome address from the representative of the Mayor of Marcory, remarks by the Executive Secretary of the NTC, Dr. Jean-Marie Kouakou ATTA, and the keynote address delivered by Minister Siandou FOFANA, who outlined the priorities and perspectives for the tourism sector. Emphasis was placed on the professionalization of value chains, the labeling of Ivorian products, the promotion of Côte d’Ivoire as a destination, the protection of the coastline, as well as the integration of innovative technologies and language training.
The President of the NTC then introduced the statutory members representing the State, local authorities, and economic operators, before proceeding with the allocation of members to thematic committees responsible for monitoring issues related to tourism land management, tourism police, training, promotion, and digitalization.
Discussions focused on the creation of language laboratories, the improvement of air transport, and the enhancement of regional assets in line with the 2045 National Territorial Development Master Plan.
This meeting helped strengthen the role of the NTC as an institutional framework for dialogue, present the 2025 action plan, and reaffirm the commitment to promoting sustainable, inclusive, and innovative tourism in Côte d’Ivoire.
